Favorite Books List...

Ah...finally back to blog. (: I've been getting back into the swing of things with school starting, so I haven't had any time to blog. But! I do today, and I figured since school has been starting up, this blog post should be about books. More specifically, my top 5...er 6 favorite books. So my lovely readers, I hope you enjoy this post:
The Kite Runner tells the moving story of Amir growing up in Afghanistan and later in America. It tells the story of grief and atonement. I had to read this for my AP Literature class this summer and the whole time I was reading it, I could not put it down. It is definitely a page turner...and a tear jerker, so grab some tissues.
To Sir, With Love. Some of you may have seen the movie, but the book is 10 times better...and the movie definitely took liberties with changing the time period and switching things up. I loved that this book told the true life story of racism, adolescence, and growth.
The Importance of Being Earnest is absolutely hilarious and full of coincidences. I just love the way Oscar Wilde wrote this. And for anybody who isn't much of a reader, this is the book for you. It's easy to understand and very short.
The Great Gatsby is probably my favorite book (besides Jane Eyre). Fitzgerald was such a great writer, so I enjoy a lot of his short stories. But this book itself is a work of art. This book is also fairly easy to read, but for the more intellectual types this book is great because of all the symbolism.
What girl doesn't love Pride and Prejudice?! This book is such a classic, but you just want to read it over and over again. I remember the first time I read it (when I was 12ish) just loving it. And after reading it again when I was a few years older, I definitely appreciated it even more.
Jane Eyre...what to say about this book. It's basically perfect in my eyes haha. The twists and turns are crazy and make you want to read more. And Jane is just so sweet, and you can't help but feel happy for her in the end.

Busy busy

So sorry that I haven't blogged in forever! I've been busy at work and busy with all of my summer school work (yuck!). But I wanted to drop in and say hello, I hope you all have had fabulous weeks so far! I'm not exactly sure when I'll be back to blog as the rest of this week and next week will be extremely busy....but when I return to blog, I will have some of my diy projects to share!

Pretty Fall Favorites

I don't know about you all, but I am so ready for fall weather. Not necessarily the actual events of fall (school mainly), but the weather at least. It's been so hot here in South Carolina lately and me+hot muggy weather, well we don't mix well haha. I'm ready to pull out some of my fall clothes...cute coats, sweaters, boots...Anthropologie has some really pretty new fall clothes/accessories that I love. Here are a few items that I love:
Aren't these boots awesome? The bow detailing is so sweet and these would look great with lots of stuff.

I love love love the cafe racer jacket. I like that it's kinda edgy in a way, but yet the neckline detailing gives it a feminine touch.

This trench is to die for! I just love the ruffle and bow.

This dress is so pretty...I love the autumn colors. I like the one with more red the most, but I wanted to share the picture of the more brownish dress because I love the whole look. So pretty.

Are you guys ready for fall weather? Or do you wish summer would go on for a little longer?

A Favorite Fashionista

I've shown you a couple of my favorite "fashionistas" before, but I thought it would be fun to show a new one more regularly. What do you think? I wanted to share with you guys a young lady in particular who's fashion sense has stuck out recently: Selena Gomez. I think part of the reason her style appeals to me is because she is my age, therefore, she wants to look age appropriate, but be cutting edge all at the same time. Here are a couple of her looks that have caught my eye. Some are recent, while some may be from a few months ago, but either way I hope you all enjoy:

Aren't all of these dresses fabulous?! I think she looks great in every single one. Some show her more playful and a little more youthful, while some are elegant and sophisticated. What do you think of Selena's style? Who are some of your favorite fashionistas?

New Painting+Room Update

Hello lovelies, I hope you all had a fantastic/relaxing/fun weekend. Last week I worked on my painting to go above my bed and I'm so pleased with how it turned out:
Painting this was so simple and relaxing. All I did was squeeze the paint out at the top and squirted with a spray bottle. I did this with all of the different colors until I achieved the look I wanted.

Now on the a couple pics of part of my room. I'm still trying to figure out if I want to do anything else to the side of the painting. And eventually I'll buy a decorative pillow to add on my bed.
I love these bedside tables...I got them at Target for a steal. At first I was going to put a lamp on each table, but there weren't two of the lamp I bought. I actually really like just having the one lamp. And yes...that is Food Inc. I'm reading. PS...that is my Matou en Peluche print I got for Christmas. (:

What I received in the mail today!*

The other day I found a cute little shop on Etsy called Paisley Maze. Laurali Larson gives new life to old things, but she also has other cute non-vintage handcrafted items. I loved her cute little pocket mirrors covered in vintage papers...and I especially loved her vintage map pocket mirrors. So much so, that I decided to buy one. I wanted to share with you all Ms. Larson's packaging. Today when I opened the envelope, I was very excited about the cute packaging. Take a look:
